Deming PLLC, with offices in Washington D.C. and Kalamazoo, Michigan, provides legal advice and represents client interests in transnational litigation and arbitration and related appellate litigation.  Its attorneys have successfully litigated complex international legal issues against major law firms and major international corporations.

In a major decision setting precedent within the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Duha v. Agrium, 448 F.3d 867 (6th Cir. 2006), attorneys obtained the reversal of a decision dismissing an international employment  matter on the basis of forum non conveniens.  Attorneys with Deming PLLC have also successfully litigated matters associated with international conventions.  Teijeiro Fernandez v. Yeager, 121 F.Supp.2d 1118 (W.D. Mich. 2000)

A lawyer with Deming PLLC was also involved with successfully litigating one of the first cases relating to the use of grand jury subpoenas to produce evidence from abroad.  In re Grand Jury 81-2, 550 F.Supp. 24 (W.D.Mich. 1982).  He has since represented a foreign bank relative to the issuance of a grand jury subpoena for the production of records from abroad.

Skilled International Litigation Attorneys

Deming PLLC attorneys also have experience handling investigations and litigation involving securities violations, white collar crime, criminal tax evasion, and multi-national employment law matters.  Nonetheless, Deming PLLC recognizes that litigation is not always the best mechanism for resolving disputes.  Often, various means of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as mediation, arbitration, and negotiation, can produce outcomes that are more beneficial to all parties.

Seeking Foreign Business Records

In addition to handling complex international litigation matters, our firm has  experience seeking international business, legal and financial records, related to domestic litigation. Many of our clients seek foreign business records in relation to federal investigations into violations of the Accounting and Record Keeping Provisions of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
